BCBSIL Bronze Level: Lower Monthly Premiums

Metallic levels are used to group ACA health plans and show how you and BCBSIL share health care costs. Plan types like HMO, PPO and POS (Point of Service) show how you get care and which doctors and hospitals you can use.

Each plan level offers a different mix of monthly costs and coverage. How much you pay depends on the plan you choose, where you live, your household size, income and any financial help you qualify for.

Who is a bronze level plan a good fit for?

Bronze health care plans generally have lower monthly premiums than Silver or Gold, but you'll pay more out of pocket when you receive care. Bronze level plans may be a good fit if keeping your monthly premium lower is a priority and you don't expect to use a lot of health care throughout the year.

Consider how often you expect to need care and how much you can afford to pay each month when comparing plans.

Your monthly premium is only part of your overall health care costs. Deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and other out-of-pocket costs can affect how much you pay throughtout the year. Looking at the full picture can help you decide the best option.
